Mud Pond Hewing and Framing

A Cruck Frame cut and raised in 2007.

Mudpond Hewing is dedicated to the Preservation of the Crafts of Hand Hewing with the Broad Axe, Timber Framing and Traditional Log Building.

I, Mike Beaudry, have been involved with Hand Hewing and Timber Construction since 1978. The first major structure I hewn and joined was, working with Bill Behrens, a 25' x 36' in summer of 1980.

My Hand Hewn Timbers have been used in both historical reproduction and historical restoration.

I have engineered frames, frame repair and coordinated frame raisings. In all cases I have made a continuous effort to involve the future owner of the structure in every aspect of the operation from planning, to hewing, to cutting joinery and raising the frame.

Education has been an important part of my mission. I have demonstrated at fairs and open air museums timber joinery, hand hewing with the Broad axe, and shingle splitting.

I have also conducted workshops both at my home and at other locations.
